It is very important to remember that earning the Merit Badge is only half of the experience.  Meeting individuals from outside the Scouts circle of direct influences helps him develop communication skills, leadership, and self-confidence.

Do not take that part of the experience away from the boy.

The Role of the Scoutmaster, Coach, or Advisor in Merit Badges:

  • To help the boy find a counselor to contact
  • To approve his application to begin
  • To Recognize the boy at a Court of Honor publicly
  • To guide along the process, not lead

To the right are some forms to assist you in helping your boys through this process.  If your unit would like an up to date Merit Badge Counselor list for the District, contact your District Merit Badge Counselor Coordinator.   If you would like to be added to the list, contact him and he will walk you through the process.
